Dorsal Interossei
Origin = By two heads from sides of the adjacent metatarsals.
Insertion = Bases of the proximal phalanges of the four lesser toes, and tendons of the extensor digitorum longus.
Action = Abduction of th e3rd. and 4th. metatarsophalangeal joints, and tibail fibular deviation of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the second toe; flexes the metatarsophalangeal joints and extends the interphalangeal joints of the 2nd., 3rd. and 4th toes.
